The impressive red 2016 El Cadastro, which has the subtitle Viñas de Sierra (mountain vineyards), is an old-vine cuvée from a cooler year. This is balanced and serious, with depth and nuance, still young and unevolved, beautifully textured and with a seamless palate where the wine combines power and elegance. There is terrific balance and a dry, chalky finish. Very impressive.

Description
Cadastro is a blend made in the Cadastro vineyards, in Covarrubias - D.O. Arlanza, which has influenced its characteristics. The climatic conditions there are moderate, with powerful winters and calm summers.
The soils involved are gravelly and loaded with pebbles. Production is not very high, only 1500 kg of grapes per hectare. The altitude of at least 950 metres creates the ideal ecological conditions for planting.
Winemaking
This wine is made from 95% Tempranillo and 5% Garnacha and has spent 19 months in new French oak barrels. Besides, in its bottling process, fining and filtering are ruled out, which guarantees a full-bodied and natural texture.
Taste
The Cadastro has a savoury flavour, with well-added tannins that give it both balanced and intense notes. As soon as you uncork it, you perceive a very ripe fruity aroma. In fact, it is more expressive on the nose than on the palate. And when you taste it, you feel it is serious, a little subdued.
Yes, it is a distinguished Tempranillo, in which the oak used is not noticeable. The finish is dry and quite formal.

The continental climate, the quality controls applied during its elaboration and its autochthonous origins, give this wine its striking singularities. If you are a demanding consumer, this wine will meet your expectations.
