The 2023 Les Terrasses Velles Vinyes is also a regional wine, sourced from 53 vineyards in eight different villages. This year, the blend is 70% Garnacha and 30% Cariñena that fermented with some whole berries, partly destemmed, in oak and concrete vats with indigenous yeasts and a maceration of 39 days. It matured in barrels of different sizes for 12 months. It comes in at 14.4% alcohol, a pH of 3.49 and 5.15 grams of acidity. It has a lot of finesse; the 2023s come through as a little lighter than the 2024s but with a lot of elegance. This is perfumed, with an ethereal quality, fine-boned with very fine tannins that give it an earthy twist. This is superb and doesn't show the heat waves from the year. 81,330 bottles produced.

Description
Les Terrasses is a crianza red wine made from Grenache, Carignan, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon by Álvaro Palacios under the D.O.Q. Priorat in Gratallops, Catalonia. Priorat in Gratallops, Catalonia.
It is a wine produced with grapes coming from old vines that are from 62 to 92 years old on average and born in 8 different villages of the Catalan Priorat.
These vineyards were planted on predominantly siliceous slate soils located at an altitude of 300 and 600 metres above sea level and organically farmed, which produces grapes of impressive quality.
Winemaking
The grapes are hand-picked at optimum ripeness. When the bunches arrive at the winery, they are destemmed and gently crushed to start alcoholic fermentation in concrete and wooden vats, with indigenous yeasts and regular de-stemming.
The resulting wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in vats and wooden barrels and is aged for 12 months in new, 2nd and 3rd year French oak barrels.
Taste
Les Terrasses stands out for its high aromatic and gustatory intensity, mineral touches and balsamic notes. It is a fresh, round and pleasant wine, with a very long and fluid passage, which surprises for its right level of acidity and ripe tannins.

Les Terrasses is the red wine of the renowned winemaker Álvaro Palacios that is a faithful reflection of the steep slopes of the Priorat and the character of the grapes from the old vineyards from which it is made, as well as having a great capacity for ageing. A magnificent wine!
