There, as if it were a profane altar, lie three unique casks that for decades lent their wood to the ageing of finos in El Puerto de Santa María. It was Jan Pettersen, a key figure in the revitalisation of this historic house, who, moved by a mixture of intuition and reverence, decided to pay homage to the noblest spirit of Jerez brandy. Thus was born La Bota de Brandy 43, a jewel of alquitara holandas aged with patience and vision. In this edition, the soul of fino and the nobility of the distillate embrace in a dance that defies time and the norm.
Elaboration
The story of La Bota de Brandy 43 begins with holandas de alquitara, distilled in copper and aged for ten years in American oak casks. Then, they were refined in one of the three casks that aged fino, impregnated with saline nuances. This second cask, bottled at 40.4% vol., allows a precise integration between spirit and wood. Static ageing, without criaderas or soleras, guarantees a unique profile and bottling as is: absolute purity.
Taste
What flows from La Bota de Brandy 43 is pure sensory goldsmithery. The first contact is deep and serene: notes of noble woods, nutmeg, old wax and a distant breeze of sea salt evoke its past as a fine wine cask. On the palate, it is enveloping, slow-paced, where the restrained sweetness of the alcohol is balanced by an elegant bitterness and echoes of dried fruit, orange peel and spices. It is a brandy that is more contemplative than seductive, more sober than exuberant. In contrast to the traditional intensity of the Marco, this Bota offers subtlety, finesse and a depth that only time and sensitivity can achieve.
