Description
From its origins in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, the Gramona family has known how to look beyond the Cava DO, where they are legends, to embrace a freer and more delicate expression of their land: thus Gramona Gessamí was born, a white wine that does not follow fashions, but intuitions. The name, which evokes jasmine, comes from Jaume Gramona' s personal quest to capture the fragility of a perfume in a wine. It is a wine that does not shout, but seduces. It does not seek to impress, but to linger.
The vineyard, cultivated under the principles of biodynamics, is located in loamy-loam soils with a calcareous base, typical of the Alt Penedès, an area that combines the generous Mediterranean sunshine with cool nights that preserve the acidity. Here three aromatic and Mediterranean varieties coexist in harmony: Muscat de Frontignan, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer, to which is added a touch of Moscatel de Alejandría, creating a white symphony that never falls into the obvious. The grapes are harvested at night to preserve the most fragile aromas.
Winemaking
Each variety is vinified separately, with a gentle entry into the pneumatic press, without maceration, seeking to avoid vegetal extraction and prioritising finesse. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, between 14 and 16 ºC, in order to preserve all the aromatic integrity. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation nor does it come into contact with wood, so that the floral and citrus notes shine clearly. Once assembled, the wine rests on its fine lees for a few weeks, adding volume without losing freshness.
Taste
Gramona Gessamí is a murmur of white flowers: jasmine, orange blossom, honeysuckle. Then the fruit takes over: lychee, passion fruit, green Melon, a note of fresh grapes almost crunchy, as if fresh from the bunch. In the background, a touch of lemon verbena and white mint adds tension and freshness.
In the mouth it is light but not light: its weight is in the perfume, not in the structure. It has an agile, almost dancing entry, with a precise acidity that guides the palate without breaking the delicacy of the whole. There is a certain salinity, as if the flowers come with a marine echo. The finish is long, perfumed, but never cloying. A wine that is more enjoyable in silence than in noise, ideal for those in search of subtlety and restrained beauty.
