The organic Fontodi 2022 Chianti Classico shows a dark color and a deep, velvety appearance. The bouquet opens to earthy aromas with baked plum, cherry and pressed blue flower. This is quite a rich edition. It's a little different than past releases, but it's also accessible and opulent. This 100% Sangiovese is fermented in steel and ages in both barrique and botte for 24 months. Production is an ample 170,000 bottles.

Description
Fontodi Chianti Classico is the winery's flagship red wine from the Chianti Classico DOCG region. This wine stands out for being made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes. Composed of a puzzle of diverse vineyards, this Chianti Classico is cultivated with a density of 6,000 vines per hectare, following the Guyot pruning formation.
Winemaking
Spontaneous fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, followed by maceration of the skins in stainless steel tanks for at least three weeks. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels and vats for at least 18 months. The average annual production is 170,000 bottles per year.
Taste
The leading role of wood is evident in Fontodi Chianti Classico, both on the nose and on the palate. On the palate, notes of cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry are perceived, which intertwine harmoniously with the nuances provided by the wood. The tannins are silky but firm, giving the wine a medium body and a long, memorable finish. The combination of these elements makes this Chianti Classico an unrivalled sensory experience, ideal for those looking for a wine with character and tradition.
