The 2023 Vía Edetana Tinto, a 50/50 blend of Garnacha Fina and Garnacha Peluda, has a young and fruit-driven profile, a bright ruby color and ripe Garnacha flavors. It has a medium-bodied palate and fine tannins and comes in at 14.5% alcohol, with a pH of 3.52 and five grams of acidity. 25,000 bottles produced. It spent one year in 350- and 500-liter barrels and was bottled in June and November 2025.

Description

Edetària was founded in Gandesa with a very clear vision: to let the wine speak of the Terra Alta without any pretence. The winery works with its own vineyards and organically farmed grapes, championing the region’s historic grape varieties with uncompromising conviction. EdetàriaVia Edetana Red is a statement of intent: to blend Garnatxa Negra and Garnatxa Peluda to showcase not only fruit, but also the landscape, the wind and the soil. It comes from the Terra Alta DO, a region with a dry Mediterranean climate, strongly characterised by light, wide temperature ranges and the influence of the cierzo wind, where Garnacha finds a particularly frank expression. The poor, calcareous and clayey soils lend tension, depth and that austere profile that prevents any excess of sweetness.

Production

The harvest for Edetària Via Edetana Garnatxa Negra / Garnatxa Peluda is carried out by hand, with a selection of bunches to preserve only the healthiest and most balanced fruit. In the winery, each plot is vinified separately to respect its identity and allow for a more precise blend. Fermentation takes place in small tanks, aiming for measured extraction and varietal purity before moving on to the ageing phase. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak, a process designed to refine the texture and add complexity without masking the character of the Garnacha. The different batches are then blended and bottled, seeking a balance between fullness, freshness and expression of terroir.

Taste

On the nose,EdetàriaVia EdetanaGarnatxa Negra / Garnatxa Peluda opens with very clean ripe red fruit —cherry, raspberry and a hint of red plum— but something more serious soon emerges: a balsamic undertone, Mediterranean herbs, delicate spices and an earthy note that anchors it to the landscape. This is not a candied or exuberant Garnacha, but a juicy, serene and well-defined wine. On the palate, it is full-bodied and silky, with an enveloping texture and polished, almost creamy tannins, yet always underpinned by an inner freshness that keeps it taut. The ripe fruit returns clearly, accompanied by balsamic notes and a long, spicy and persistent finish. Mediterranean, yes, but with nerve and restraint.
