Daterra Gavela Da Vila Manzaneda is an aged white wine made from Palomino grapes grown organically in three plots in the Ribeira Sacra de Manzaneda in Galicia, where the predominant soils are sandy with an abundance of granite, quartz and slate.
Laura Lorenzo has been practising mountain viticulture for several years, managing to create different types of wines such as this inspiring textured white wine with an Atlantic profile that is an excellent accompaniment to blue fish at meals with family and friends.
This dry white wine is made from Palomino grapes from vineyards between 80 and 120 years old. The grapes are harvested by hand. It is macerated for ten days and 10% of the grapes are left with stems. Then natural alcoholic fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for 7 months in chestnut barrels, resulting in a complex and juicy biodynamic natural dry white wine.
The elaboration process of this wine, especially its ageing, gives it certain mineral sensations, and the fermentation gives it some acidity and elegant tannins. In addition, it has an herbaceous aroma, citrus peel and spices, as well as pollen and flowers.
It is an intense, full-bodied dry wine, but with a silky texture. It is a juicy wine that can be enjoyed in the company of friends.
The best Manzaneda white wine
The wine of Da Terra Gavela Da Vila Manzaneda is dry, deep and has some complexity, making it the best accompaniment for grilled vegetables, pork and cheeses. It is advisable to let it decant for an hour and serve at 16°C. It also brings out the flavour of fish and seafood.
