Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Like many of their reds, the 2015 Cuvée is mostly Tempranillo with 2% Graciano. But this one comes from an eight-hectare single vineyard called La Llana in the village of Labastida. It matured in French and 15% American oak barrels (40% new) for 12 months. It's from alluvial soils, and they want the wine to show the freshness of Labastida. Despite being a 2015, it has more red fruit. This is the first single-vineyard wine, and it's one they can do good volume with, so an affordable wine. It mixes red berries and spice, quite open and aromatic (it reminds me of some 2016s). The palate is medium-bodied and has fine-grained tannins and a dusty, dry finish. It should do well with food. 100,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2018.
Between 16ºC and 18ºC
