The affordable rosé 2022 Roselito was produced with a traditional blend of 30% Albillo and 70% Tinto Fino from old vines on different soils, pressing all of the bunches directly and fermenting the juice with selected yeasts in stainless steel. It's not a shy rosé at 14.44% alcohol with mellow acidity and a soft mouthfeel reflecting a very warm year. It has more color and is more fruit-driven than the 2021. It's a bit reductive (it was bottled a couple of weeks before I tasted it) and has some leafy notes. It was a generous crop that produced 63,840 bottles. It was bottled in November 2022.

Description

Roselito is the young rosé wine of Bodegas Antídoto, a winery founded in 2010 in the province of Soria, within the Ribera del Duero DO, and led by winemaker Bertrand Sourdais. This wine is made from a blend of 70% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and 30% Albillo, both indigenous varieties of the region. The vineyards are located in a mosaic of plots, mainly in old pre-phylloxera goblet-trained vines, located between 900 and 1,000 metres above sea level. This altitude, together with the soil composed of sand, silt, clay and limestone, brings freshness and elegance to the wine.

Winemaking

The Tinto Fino and Albillo grapes are pressed directly, blending the whole bunches of red and white grapes. The must then undergoes a 24-hour racking process before being fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 20°C. This low-temperature fermentation allows the wine to preserve the quality of the wine. This low-temperature fermentation preserves the wine's characteristic fresh aromas. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 2 months on fine lees, which gives it greater unctuousness and complexity.

Taste

Roselito has an onion skin colour with orange reflections. On the nose, it offers a medium aromatic intensity, with notes of fresh red fruits (raspberry), white flowers and citrus fruits such as lemon, as well as a subtle mineral and herbaceous background. On the palate, it is dry and fresh, with a balanced acidity that makes it very easy to drink. It is light to medium-bodied, with a smooth, unctuous texture thanks to its ageing on lees, and finishes with a slight bitterness that prolongs its persistence. This profile makes it a gastronomic wine, ideal for pairing with light dishes such as salads, poultry and fish.
