The 2015 La Prats Vinyes Velles is a multi-grape Rosé produced, a Claret rather, with over 30 varieties both white and red, co-planted in a plot in the geographical limits of the Alella appellation, but sold without appellation. It's a vineyard planted in 1903 on a limestone-rich terrace at 75 meters altitude and two kilometers away from the Mediterranean sea. No sulphur is used and the destemmed grapes underwent an eight-hour maceration, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and the wine matured with the fine lees for seven months without bâtonnage. It somehow reminded me of the Rosé Eric Ffifferling (L'Angloré), with some organic notes mixed with notions of wet stones and a pinch of red currants. The palate is fresh, light, very tasty, with a mineral and almost salty finish. It's delicious. Only 871 bottles were filled in April 2016.

Description

Oriol Artigas Prats Vinyes Velles is a rosé wine made from several grapes, as more than 30 varieties of both white and red grapes are used. All of these grapes are planted in plots within the geographical limits of the Alella appellation.
It is a vineyard on a limestone terrace, with quaternary alluvial soils with fossils, called Prats plots, at an altitude of 75 metres above sea level and two kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea. Twelve hectares in total are taken from the locality, mainly in the rescue of old vines, worked in an ancestral way following the lunar calendar.
This wine is made by the young Oriol Artigas who is established in his own region and has dedicated himself to searching for the identity of his origins and interpreting the landscape that has accompanied him all his life. He has dedicated himself to creating his own wine, which he joined forces collaboratively in pursuit of achieving his organic wine cellar, without depending on third parties.

Winemaking

It is a wine that is made entirely spontaneously, without filtering. The ageing is mainly done for nine months in stainless steel tanks, and sulphur is never used in the process.
The destemmed grapes undergo an eight-hour maceration, are fermented with indigenous yeasts and the wine matures on fine lees.

Taste

Oriol Artigas La Prats Vinyes Velles is a wine that is fresh and light on the palate with a mineral and almost salty finish. It is a deep wine with organic notes.
