Description
Matassa Cuvée Alexandria is a natural white wine made from Alexandria Muscat grapes. It is produced by the Matassa Winery, in the lands of Roussillon, in the south of France.
Like all the wines produced by this winery, Matassa Cuvée Alexandria is characterised by its low sulphur content and by its zero use of additives during fermentation and ageing. This wine elevates Muscat d'Alexandria to the category of Great Grapes.
Winemaking
The grapes used in its production are grown in vineyards surrounded by scrubland and vegetation typical of the area, and influenced by the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees. Its cultivation is completely environmentally friendly and biodynamic, producing up to 18 hectolitres per hectare.
Matassa Cuvée Alexandria is made by hand harvesting the fruit. Maceration is carried out on whole bunches of grapes for 35 days, followed by pressing after drying. It then culminates in malolactic fermentation. The resulting must is aged in 500-litre oak barrels for 11 months before being bottled and distributed.
Taste
Matassa Cuvée Alexandría is a natural wine with intense aromas of white fruits and citrus highlights. Among the aromas and flavours that characterise it are the fruits of the forest, all this complemented by the flavour provided by the grape. Its golden colour denotes good tension and clarity. It offers fruity and citrus notes, resulting in a long finish and a long, balanced experience.

It is classified among the Orange wines, since, due to its classic vinification process, it acquires a golden colour reminiscent of oranges and denotes the naturalness of its process. This wine is perfect for pairing with vegetarian dishes, white fish and is excellent as an aperitif.
The golden colour can only translate into an invitation to an experience between the traditional and the exclusive.
