Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2011 Llegat Familiar was produced with grapes from a Xarel.lo vineyard, La Viña de Paulino, planted in 1935. 2011 was a warm vintage but with good rain. The grapes were hand harvested, and the free-run juice was left to ferment in stainless steel and was refermented in bottle. This was disgorged after more than 13 years in bottle with the lees. It's serious, clean and balanced. It has 11.3% alcohol and a pH of 3.02, quite extraordinary. It is truly exceptional, elegant, fresh and nuanced, very complex and harmonious. Only 1,332 bottles were produced. It was disgorged in October 2024.

Description
Llopart Llegat Familiar is not a wine that seeks easy applause; it is a piece of oenological clockwork, made with metric patience and absolute respect for the land. It is a tribute to a silent legacy, the one Paulino Llopart left behind in 1935 when he planted a small Xarel.lo vineyard in a shady area surrounded by forest. There, among sheltered slopes and soils of Miocene marl on calcareous bedrock, a wine-growing microcosm has developed over time, a singular expression: sober, mineral, profoundly alive.
Winemaking
The production of Llopart Llegat Familiar is conceived as a reverence to time. Only 1331 bottles are produced and aged for more than 144 months in rhyme. Every four years, the wine is manually stirred to reactivate yeast autolysis and enhance its complexity. After disgorging, the wine rests for a minimum of six months in the cellar before being released. With no added sugar (only 0.9 g/L), it is a radical, honest, uncompromising Brut Nature.
Taste
The nose of Llopart Llegat Familiar is pure restrained tension: dried lemon peel, raw almond, chamomile infusion, wet stone. A minerality that does not impose itself, but builds an architecture of silences. On the palate, Llopart Llegat Familiar shows a very fine, almost imperceptible bubble, which accompanies a vibrant and precise acidity. There are notes of white grapefruit, toasted bread, dried flowers and a salinity that evokes the memory of the chalky earth.
There is no unnecessary sweetness or caresses: Llopart Llegat Familiar Brut Nature is sharp, pure and cerebral. It is a wine that does not give itself away at the first sip, but it is more than rewarding for those who know how to wait. Its persistence is long, almost meditative, leaving an echo of austere white fruit and an elegant bitterness.
