Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The very expressive 2018 Carralcoba Albariño is very different from the Albariños from Zárate; it's more aromatic and expressive, from a vineyard in Castrelo, perhaps with less granite minerality. It was produced in 1,200-liter chestnut vats, which seems to give it a bit of a creamy touch and a faint bitter twist in the finish. The palate is also rounder and gentler, approachable and nicely balanced, less sharp and citrusy than other more marine Albariños. It was kept in the two chestnut vats for eight months but didn't go through malolactic. 3,200 bottles were filled in November 2019.
Between 10ºC and 12ºC
Fermented and aged on the lees for 8 months in 1,200-litre chestnut vats.
