Description
Didier Dagueneau Sancerre Le Mont Damné Chavignol is an exceptional white wine from the Monts Damnés vineyard, one of the most famous plots in the Sancerre appellation, in the heart of the Loire Valley. Produced by Domaine Didier Dagueneau, this wine follows the strict practices of biodynamic agriculture, an approach that respects the natural cycles of the land and seeks to preserve the purity of the grapes. The vineyard is planted on kimmeridgian calcareous soils, rich in marine fossils, which gives the wine a remarkable minerality.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimum ripeness, and after cold maceration, the wine ferments spontaneously using indigenous yeasts. Ageing takes place in large oak barrels (foudres) for a minimum of 12 months, which gives the wine structure and complexity.
Taste
Didier Dagueneau Sancerre Le Mont Damné offers a unique sensory experience. On the nose, it stands out for its aromatic notes of white fruits, such as green apple and pear, accompanied by subtle citrus and floral hints, such as orange blossom, mingling with a distinctive mineral character. On the palate, it is fresh and vibrant, with a well-integrated acidity that gives it great liveliness. Its texture is ample and enveloping, with a saline and crisp finish, which reinforces its unique character. In addition, its structure and balance allow for remarkable cellaring potential, improving with time in bottle and developing additional layers of complexity. This wine is ideal with seafood, fish and lightly sauced dishes.
