Description
Borsao Tres Picos is a single varietal red wine produced by the Bodegas Borsao winery, located in the Campo de Borja DO, Aragón. This wine is a pure expression of Grenache, a variety that the winery masters to perfection. The Grenache used comes from mountain vineyards between 35 and 60 years old, located at an altitude of 600 to 700 metres above sea level. The soils in which the vines grow are clay-limestone, stony and loamy, which allows for optimum ripening and concentration of aromas in the grapes. The continental climate, with the influence of the cierzo wind, provides an ideal thermal contrast for the production of wines of great character.
Winemaking
As for the elaboration of Borsao Tres Picos, the grapes undergo a maceration of between 20 and 25 days, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of between 25 and 30 ºC. After this process, the wine is aged for 5 months in new French oak barrels, which gives it complexity and a structure rich in nuances.
Taste
On the palate, Borsao Tres Picos stands out for its richness and structure, with a great concentration of flavours. Ripe red fruits, such as blackberry and plum, combine with hints of leather and vanilla, adding depth to the whole. The tannins are silky and sweet, contributing to a smooth and persistent experience on the palate.
