The eponymous and flagship red 2023 4 Kilos kept the harmonious, elegant and fresh profile that is a constant even in more challenging years. Half of the volume fermented in 2,500-liter oak vats and the other half in stainless steel, then the wine matured in 225- and 600-liter Allier oak barrels for one year. This has a more austere and serious nose than the Motor América/Motor Callet or the Grimalt/Caballero, without that honeyed note; it's more about flowers, plants and wild berries with a spicy twist. It has a powerful palate, with abundant, fine-grained tannins; it's nicely built and has a long, dry finish. It has contained ripeness and only 12% alcohol, with a pH of 3.7 and 4.5 grams of acidity. This feels like a long-distance runner, closer to 2021 or 2020 than to 2022. 18,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2025.

Description
4 Kilos, an exceptional wine from Mallorca, is a sublime expression of modern viticulture and oenology. This wine, made mainly from the Callet grape (90%) and a touch of Mantonegro (10%), is the creation of oenologist Francesc Grimalt. The vineyards, located between 120 and 180 metres above sea level, enjoy a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and an average annual rainfall of 450 mm. The soils, rich in ferric oxide, are reddish clay, which contributes to the uniqueness of the terroir.
Winemaking
Viticulture is carried out organically, with a native plant cover that improves the microbiology of the soil and regulates water retention. Harvesting is done by hand, carefully selecting the grapes. As for vinification, 50% of the grapes are fermented in stainless steel and the other 50% in open oak vats of 2500 litres. Each plot is fermented and macerated separately at temperatures between 20ºC and 30ºC. The wine is then aged for 14 months in new 600-litre Allier, Vosges and Nevers oak barrels.
Taste
4 Kilos is a wine that stands out for its silky and fruity aroma, with a nose dominated by exquisitely perfumed cherries, complemented by animal notes such as leather and toasted hints of coffee and cocoa. The palate reveals a rich blend of black cherry, blueberry and the finesse of blackcurrant. Mediterranean flavours of aromatic herbs add complexity to the palate. The wine has a light acidity and fine tannic structure, which combine harmoniously to offer a round and elegant taste experience. The ageing in French oak barrels brings a remarkable smoothness to both the nose and the palate, making this wine an elegant and balanced expression of Mallorcan viticulture.
