Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
From the upper part of the southwest-facing part of the potential premier cru, Humbrecht's bright and golden colored 2014 Pinot Gris Heimbourg displays a clear, fresh and even smoky/flinty, really deep and elegant bouquet; there are aromas of super ripe but healthy berries, even shrivelled raisins, a touch of honey and some citrus/grapefruit flavors in the background. Full-bodied, round and elegant, this wine has a piquant, vivacious acidity as well as a good tannin and mineral grip, which structures the lush and fruit-intense palate. The 2014 is a remarkably fine and elegant Pinot Gris that did not ferment fully dry (down to 10.5 grams of residual sugar), but is fully ripe and – despite the fruit fly that caused a very low yield of just 19 hectoliters per hectare – pretty clear, as well as charmingly textured. The finish is long, aromatic and finely structured. Bottled in August 2016 with 12.5% of alcohol, this is a very well balanced and elegant Pinot that should be excellent with food for the next 15 years.
