Viña Almate is a red wine made from Tempranillo grapes by the Alfredo Maestro winery in Peñafiel, Valladolid, under the Castilla y León appellation.
This variety comes from several vineyards located in the municipalities of Peñafiel and Valtiendas on sandy loam, clay and limestone soils.
The grapes are grown following a natural viticulture, without using chemical products such as herbicides, pesticides and systemic fungicides.
The grapes are harvested by hand, with selection in the vineyard and in the winery, on a sorting table. Once the grapes have been destemmed and crushed, alcoholic fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks with local yeasts and daily pumping over. Maceration lasts between 12 and 15 days. Before malolactic fermentation, the grapes are racked.
After 30 days, once the malolactic fermentation is finished, the wine is decanted, which allows the wine to reach the bottling stage (February) in clean, stable and optimal conditions.
It is aged for 4 months in stainless steel tanks.
Viña Almate is a tremendously expressive, fruity and juicy wine. Lots of fruit on the nose and on the palate, it is intense and structured. It has a subtle hint of spice and a balsamic background that invites you to continue drinking.
It is also very fresh, with a very good acidity that gives it a remarkable balance and a long finish that conquers the palate with every sip!
It is an honest and transparent red wine
Almate is a wine like the ones from the old days, an exclusive fruit of the spontaneous fermentation of a top quality grape.
Viña Almate is perfect for dinners with friends to accompany meals with red meat, mildly spicy sausages, semi-cured cheeses and pasta dishes.
And you, haven't you tried this incomparable wine from the Alfredo Maestro winery yet? You'll love it!
