Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The creamy and soft 2019 Venta Las Vacas has plenty of notes of licorice and ripe black fruit. It's quite ripe and heady, reflecting the warm and dry character of the year. It has a lush palate and is fruit-driven, with integrated acidity and fine tannins. The oak feels neatly integrated after one year in barrel. 70,000 bottles.
Between 16ºC and 18ºC
Aged for 12 months in used and new French and American oak barrels.
Venta las Vacas is a red wine from D.O. Ribera del Duero made exclusively with Tempranillo by Bodegas Vizcarra.
The grapes come from 17 and 22-year-old vines located at an altitude of 850 metres above sea level on a chalky, sandy soil.
The grapes are harvested by hand and transported to the winery in 15-20 kg bins, where they are selected on the table and destemmed before fermentation.
Once in the winery, the wine is cold pre-maceration for subsequent vinification in stainless steel tanks of 16,000 litres and after the second fermentation in new barrels, the wine is aged in oak barrels, 50% American and 50% French medium toast, making two rackings for 10 to 12 months.
Venta Las Vacas displays a powerful fruity and spicy aromatic range. On the palate it is strong and round with a texture of round and polished tannins accompanied by intense fruit flavours.
An intense and pleasant wine
Venta Las Vacas is a red wine made by Bodegas Vizcarra with Tempranillo grapes; this is a family winery with its roots in the vineyards.
Tempranillo grows with excellent conditions for its maturation, which allowed this winery to highlight this single varietal red wine Venta Las Vacas in an exceptional way.
In the gastronomic field, this wine is especially recommended for dinners with friends or as a gift and as an accompaniment to cold meats, ham, cured cheeses and red meats.
