Son Negre 2011 Magnum
484.91₣ (Inc. VAT bot. 150 cl.) / Spain
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2011 Son Negre is also Callet with 5% Mantonegro-Fogoneu aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months. It was a little disappointing in the context and because the expectation is much higher given the price tag. The wine has a nose dominated by oak in an end-of-the-1990s style. The palate is dense with intense flavors of prune juice and vanilla, with some charred tones, slowly showing shy Mediterranean tones and very ripe fruit. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with plenty of tannins and some fruit, enough acidity and a slightly bitter aftertaste. Developing strong balsamic aromas of incense and camphor, it feels very raw and unready, so give it some time in bottle and pray for the wood to be digested soon. 2,500 bottles
