Description
Muster Zweigelt Vom Opok is an authentic expression of the Steiermark region of Austria. Produced by Maria and Sepp Muster, this wine is the result of decades of passion and belief in the potential of indigenous varieties such as Zweigelt, sourced from the winery's youngest vineyards, located in the lower areas where soils with a higher proportion of sand predominate.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and destemmed at the entrance to the winery. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in 225-litre barrels. Subsequently, the wine is aged in the same barrels for approximately 20 months. The wine is not filtered and no sulphur is added prior to bottling, reflecting a commitment to natural and biodynamic production.
Taste
Muster Zweigelt Vom Opok is a young red wine with good texture and elegant tannins. On the nose, it offers aromas of black fruits, cherries, redcurrants and green pepper. On the palate, there are mineral and red fruit notes, with a chewy structure and a depth that allows the fruit to shine through. The presence of flavours such as cherry and mushroom, accompanied by lively acidity, give it a pleasant texture and a lingering finish. It is an unfiltered wine that speaks of its 'natural' heritage, and is perfect with dishes such as steak tartar.
