Description
Ever since the Leflaive family's ancestors planted their first vines in Puligny-Montrachet, the vision has been clear: to make wines that accurately translate the voice of the Burgundian soil. It is along these lines that Leflaive & Associés Bourgogne Blanc was born, a Chardonnay from Burgundy that seeks to capture the freshness and purity of the southern Côte de Beaune, without artifice or excess. Sourced from vineyards managed under biodynamic principles, this wine represents a bold decision: to offer an " accessible Bourgogne Blanc " but faithful to the maison's technical and aesthetic rigour. In the words of the team, it is a gesture of hospitality, a gateway to the Leflaive universe, without compromising on quality or authenticity.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand to select only the bunches that are in perfect condition. After gentle pneumatic pressing, the must of Leflaive Associés Bourgogne Blanc is fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels (10% new) for 12 months, followed by a 6-month maturation in stainless steel. This process, without excessive bâtonnage, favours a crisp texture, preserving tension and energy in the wine. Ageing on fine lees adds volume without dulling the natural freshness of Burgundy Chardonnay.
Taste
Pale yellow with golden highlights, the nose of Leflaive Associés Bourgogne Blanc reveals an elegant combination of green apple, white pear and fresh citrus, with notes of white flower and a subtly chalky mineral background. On the palate, Leflaive Associés Bourgogne Blanc shows a straight, lively and precise profile, with refreshing acidity and a barely hinted creamy texture. The mineral character - shale, wet stone - supports a long, saline and elegant finish, where the fruit never dominates, but subtly accompanies it. It is a wine that does not seek to impress with power, but to seduce with balance and finesse. Perfect for those who value Burgundian purity in its most accessible form, but rigorously executed.
