Description
La Bulle Libre L’Odyssée Pétillante was born of a bold idea: Romain Hénin’s decision to stray from the beaten track in order to reinterpret Champagne from a freer, livelier and less artificial perspective. The son of winegrowers from Aÿ, he decided to break with family tradition to champion a cleaner approach to viticulture and a more honest wine, deeply connected to the land. On his plots, tended with an organic and biodynamic approach, he seeks to breathe new life into the soil and let the vineyard breathe freely, without artifice. This cuvée, made from Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, captures the soul of the Marne Valley and Aÿ, where the cool northern climate and limestone soils impart tension, salinity and a vibrant, very vertical profile.
Production
The winemaking process follows this same philosophy of purity. The grapes are harvested by hand and pressed on the estate, using an artisanal approach that avoids any technical excess. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, seeking to preserve the identity of the vintage and the terroir. Intervention in the cellar is minimal: no embellishment, no compromises, nothing to soften the wine’s natural character. La Bulle Libre L’Odyssée Pétillante is presented as a Brut Nature, with no dosage, so that the expression of the terroir is laid completely bare. Ageing on the lees refines the texture and adds depth, without detracting from the wine’s vigour or energy. Everything is designed to maintain the purity of the fruit, the wine’s vertical structure and that sensation of a precise, lively and transparent wine.
Flavour
In the glass, La Bulle Libre L’Odyssée Pétillante does not seek to make a quick impression. The bubbles are fine, compact and dynamic, offering texture rather than spectacle. Aromatically, it ranges from green apple and taut citrus to a very pronounced chalky minerality, almost reminiscent of damp stone. On the palate, it enters straight, dry and sharp, with a firm acidity that runs across the palate like a fresh, salty burst. There is no trace of gentle sweetness or exuberant fruit; here, everything speaks of purity, chalk, lemon and contained energy. The finish is long, clean and very mouth-watering, with an austere, serious and deeply gastronomic profile. An unvarnished, vibrant and honest Champagne, which transforms its severity into a form of beauty.
