The 2022 LZ is primary, fruit driven, young and fresh, bottled unoaked with moderate ripeness and alcohol. It's juicy and tender, with fine tannins, very nice balance and chalky minerality, transcending the concept of a young unoaked wine. 64,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2023.

Description

LZ is a red wine from the region, produced in La Rioja by Compañía Telmo Rodríguez. It is a blend of three different grape varieties: Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano.
These varieties come from different vineyards planted at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level, located on hillsides in the village of Lanziego de Álava, where the soil composition is calcareous clay.
This red wine is the perfect accompaniment to spicy dishes, braised lamb, chicken curry, roast turkey, pasta with meat sauce and stuffed aubergines.

Winemaking

The grapes are harvested by hand and quality grapes are obtained, with a careful selection of bunches. The vines used are cultivated using a system of head pruning. This system is one of the oldest and most widespread in the world and is the key to obtaining the best wine.
LZ is made with grapes from vineyards of different plots, aged in foudres, also called casks, and in barrels of different sizes and origins and with a very limited production.
In the winery, the must is fermented with indigenous yeasts in cement tanks. These vines give the wine a unique character, adding freshness, youth and lots of fruit.

Taste

This is a red wine with aromatic potential. The grapes from which it is made give the wine a very particular character, as it is light, fruity, and with a certain acidity that gives it freshness.
In other words, it is delicious on the palate.

LZ is a young red wine that comes from different plots in the village of Lanciego. These are vineyards of different suppliers of the winery that practice traditional viticulture. Moreover, it is a serious, sophisticated wine with a great ageing capacity.
