The 2023 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett is deep, pure, fresh and slatey on the precise, coolish and also floral nose. Mouth-filling, rich and dense on the palate, this is a round and juicy, very mineral, stimulating, savory and saline wine with fine, stimulating grip and an aromatic, well-structured and relatively dry finish. This is excellent and stylish in its terroir expression. 8.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in January 2025.

The wine Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett is produced in the Mosel region of Germany. This wine is made primarily from the Riesling grape variety, which is known for its ability to reflect the characteristics of the terroir in which it is grown.
Winemaking
Wehlener Sonnenuhr is the most famous and prestigious vineyard in Joh. Jos. Prüm. This vineyard offers perfect growing conditions for Riesling grapes, thanks to its deep decomposed grey slate soil, excellent water retention, an extreme slope of up to 70% and an optimal south-south-west orientation. The name "Wehlener Sonnenuhr" comes from a sundial that was erected in the vineyard in 1842 by Jodocus Prüm, an ancestor of JJ Prüm, to provide better time orientation for the workers. The wines from this region have exceptional structure, showing ripe aromas and flavours of stone fruits such as peach, fine minerality and great depth and length.

Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett is deep, bright and clear on the nose, with beautiful aromas of crushed slate. On the palate, this wine is rich, round and generous, incredibly lush and supple, yet crystal clear and pure. This wine shows the great terroir of the cru, especially in the cooler vintages due to its exposure that catches the sun's rays in the morning. It has a declared alcohol content of 7.5% and is sealed with natural cork.
