The super young and aromatic white 2023 Gaba do Xil O Barreiro comes from a warm year with an early harvest that delivered round and ripe wines like this one with 13.5% alcohol. It has notes of bay leaf and white flowers and is still a little reductive. It fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, where it matured for four months. The heat of the vintage is not obvious in the wine even though it's a little riper and rounder, with the character from the red soils in the zone of Larouco. It ends with a pleasant bitter twist in the finish. 97,007 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2024.

Description
Gaba Do Xil O Barreiro is a white wine from the Valdeorras region, produced by the prestigious Compañía de Vinos Telmo Rodríguez winery. This wine comes from estate-owned vineyards located in Larouco, which cover between 15 and 16 hectares of red granite soils.
Winemaking
Made with the Godello grape variety, this wine is vinified without oak ageing, but with four months in contact with the lees, which gives it a round texture in the mouth. The total production is 67,000 bottles.
Taste
Gaba Do Xil O Barreiro is an authentic expression of its terroir. This wine presents a dominant fruit profile, accompanied by subtle floral and herbal notes. The Godello, when grown in these specific soils, acquires its own personality which is reflected in a more reductive profile. On tasting, it has a rounder character and a smooth mouthfeel, with a well-integrated acidity that balances the ripeness of the fruit. This wine, although bottled without oak ageing, shows a complexity and depth that make it stand out among the region's whites.
