Description
Egon Müller Wiltinger Brauner Kupp Kabinett is a sublime manifestation of Riesling, originating from the Mosel region of Germany. This gem comes from the Braune Kupp in Wiltingen, an area that has been consistently recognised for producing exceptional Rieslings. Although Scharzhofberger wines are more expensive, those from the Braune Kupp have proven to be almost on the same level in terms of quality, making them an essential choice for true Riesling aficionados.
History
Since 1954, Weingut Müller has owned Weingut Le Gallais in Kanzem. Opposite, on the Wiltinger side of the Saar, is the four-hectare plot, Wiltinger braune Kupp. Unlike the Scharzhofberger plots, Braune Kupp looks directly onto the Saar and benefits from more moderate climatic conditions. Especially in the warmer vintages, the wines reach a baroque opulence with pronounced exotic fruit, being more accessible and charming than the more reserved wines of the Praweltsbaches region in their early years. These wines are perfect to fill the gap while waiting for the Scharzhofberger, and at much more affordable prices.
Taste
Wiltinger Braune Kupp Riesling Kabinett presents with a bright, ripe, finely slatey bouquet. On the palate, it is round and lush, showing medium body and a full, lovely mouthfeel. This Kupp Kabinett stands out for its ripe, elegant, crystalline and saline acidity, which combines with a fine grip on the aromatic and well-structured finish. Although already delicious as an aperitif, this wine has been crafted to be cellared and enjoyed with food in about 15-20 years. Its alcohol content is 9.5%.
