Description
It might seem that in Toro everything revolves around red wine. But there are those who know how to look beyond that. Antony Terry, the soul behind Dominio del Bendito, has been proving for years that Tinta de Toro not only knows how to roar: it can also sing. From his free vision and his obsession for the purity of the terroir comes Perlarena, a rosé that stands out from the expected and vindicates that pleasure can also come in pink. Not as a trend, but as a sincere expression of the vineyard.
Perlarena 's blend combines the intensity of the Tinta de Toro ( 85%) with the spicy freshness of the Syrah (15%), creating a rosé profile that breaks the mould. Both varieties come from young vines, between 15 and 40 years old, grown on sandy soils with pebbles, in the heart of the Toro DO. Here, the climate is extreme: dry winters, inclement summers, thermal contrasts that mark each cluster. The vineyard is worked without pesticides or herbicides, under a philosophy of minimum intervention and manual harvesting.
Winemaking
Perlarena is obtained by bleeding, after a very brief maceration that seeks to capture the most delicate soul of the grapes without losing identity. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts and at low temperature, in stainless steel tanks, to preserve the aromas and freshness intact. There is no wood or make-up: just living fruit and direct expression of the terroir.
Taste
Perlarena is a rosé that is not content to be light: it has character, but also balance. Fresh red fruits, wild strawberry, raspberry, mingle with a slight spicy and floral reminiscence provided by the Syrah. The palate is full and juicy, with vibrant acidity and a clean, saline and very refreshing finish. A wine to enjoy without prejudice, that speaks honestly and leaves its mark without raising its voice.
