2020 was a cooler year than 2019, and the eponymous 2020 Dominio de Calogía feels fresher and a little lighter than the initial 2019 that I tasted next to it. He looks for harmony, balance and elegance within the inherent rusticity of the wines from the zone, which should translate into longevity in bottle, something he already demonstrated at the family winery for decades. The vineyards are in the process of obtaining organic certification. The wine is soft and velvety, with some creaminess, very fine tannins and very good freshness, coming through as medium-bodied and balanced, and the 14.54% alcohol goes unnoticed. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in French oak barrels for 14 months. 32,465 bottles and 2,408 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2022.
