The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc and was aged for 22 months in French oak, 100% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose opens with profound notions of blueberry preserves, Black Forest cake and black olives with hints of camphor, pencil shavings and fragrant earth. Full-bodied, rich, ripe and concentrated, it has a solid structure of grainy tannins and a lively line of freshness, finishing long and perfumed.

Description
Diamond Creek Red Rock Terrace has established itself as one of California's most iconic wines. This wine comes from the Red Rock Terrace Vineyard, planted in 1968 on soil rich in iron and red rocks. This vineyard covers approximately 2.80 hectares of the estate vineyard. The reddish-tinged, oxidised iron-rich soil, along with its north-facing orientation, allows the grapes to receive less direct sunlight, resulting in a wine with unique characteristics.
Winemaking
The elaboration of this wine begins with a careful selection of berries that undergo a cold maceration for 4 to 5 days. Subsequently, the must ferments for 7 to 9 days, is pressed and the wine is transferred to selected new French oak barrels where it ages for 20 months.
Prior to bottling, the final blend consists of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by 16% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc.
Taste
Diamond Creek Red Rock Terrace is distinguished by its finesse and vibrant palate. It displays notes of red cherry, fir and coffee bean. On the palate, flavours of raspberry, cassis and plum extend into hints of graphite, mineral, cedar, tapenade and menthol. All of this is complemented by firm, elegant tannins, culminating in a long, savoury finish.
