Description
Ceretto Barbaresco is an organic barrel-aged red wine produced by the Italian winery Ceretto with the Nebbiolo variety in the DOCG Barbaresco, located in the Piedmont region. Founded in 1937 by Riccardo Ceretto, this family winery has become a leader in Piedmont, producing annually a wide range of wines from prestigious appellations in the Langhe area, such as Barbaresco, Barolo and Moscato d'Asti. Today, Alessandro Ceretto is in charge of carrying on this legacy, with the aim of fully expressing this majestic terroir.
Winemaking
Ceretto Barbaresco is made by combining grapes from some of the youngest vines in Asili and the lower Treiso. In total, 5 hectares (certified) are farmed organically without using any chemicals that could alter the natural balance of the terroir. Once the grapes are ripe, they are harvested by hand. These grapes are taken directly to the winery and fermented with indigenous yeasts with the skins in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. This process concludes with a maceration of 10-15 days. Finally, the wine is transferred to French oak barrels for 12 months and an additional 12 months in 2,500 litre foudres.

Ceretto Barbaresco is a typical wine of this Piedmontese appellation that shows its most delicate side without neglecting the fleshiness and power of the variety. It is a sample of the elegant opulence of Piedmont. It stands out for the presence of dark fruits, spices, truffle and earth that frame the medium structure of this elegant wine.
