Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2015 Molsheimer Zellerweg Am Schwarzen Herrgott Riesling trocken GG starts extremely flinty on the clear and complex nose, which reflects the pure limestone terroir of this re-discovered cru in the Zellertal. Juicy, round and very elegant, this is a very intense and concentrated, piquant and lemony flavored Riesling. There is power, tension, extract and great grip on the finish, which comes from the limestone terroir, as well as from the phenols. There is hint of oak and yeast on the nose, which lends a certain sweetness and roundness. Whereas the Frauenberg is built on finesse, transparency and elegance, the monolithic Herrgott is a darker flavored and more masculine wine—built on power and structure. Both are among the Rheinhessen's finest.
