Description
Atteca is a red wine that represents one of the great expressions of Aragonese Grenache, produced by the Ateca winery, founded in 2005 in the D.O. Calatayud. This wine is made from 100% Garnacha, coming from old vineyards located in hills between 700 and 1000 metres above sea level. The predominant soils are of decomposed slate and clayey gravels, which favour good drainage and give a characteristic minerality to the wine. The vineyards, with an average age of 80 years, are subjected to a continental climate, with cold winters and hot summers.
The Atteca is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 25°C, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. Finally, it is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, which gives it greater complexity and structure.
Taste
Atteca is powerful and fresh on the palate. It is fruity and tasty, with an unctuous texture. It is a complex and mineral wine, with a long and remarkable finish, where the fruity and spicy aromas reappear in the retronasal. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe red fruits, such as raspberry, combined with spicy notes of cocoa, vanilla and liquorice, a product of its noble ageing. The ripe tannins give it elegance and persistence in the mouth, being a magnificent representation of the Garnacha de Calatayud.
This wine is ideal for pairing with a wide variety of dishes, from roasted or grilled red and white meats, to game stews, cured cheeses and honeyed rice dishes.
