Description
The Ampeleia Alicante wine is a precious jewel that reflects the authenticity and genuineness of the Mediterranean region of Maremma. This native variety of the Alta Maremma had been displaced by other varieties with deeper colours and more robust bodies. However, in 2003, the decision was taken to bring it back to its native land, planting Alicante vineyards in the firm belief that this grape variety could be the most authentic expression of the Mediterranean Maremma. This belief was confirmed, and today, Alicante Nero is one of the winery's most prized treasures. It has found its natural habitat in the "La Pieve" vineyards, where the clay soils mixed with pebbles and conglomerates give it a light, delicate and harmonious character.
Winemaking
The wine is made from the Alicante Nero grape variety. It is grown using the cordon espolonné system and is harvested in the third week of August. With an alcohol content of 12.5%, this wine is aged for 10 months in concrete tanks. Vinification includes 20% whole bunches. Since its first vintage in 2013, around 13,000 bottles have been produced annually.

Ampeleia Alicante Nero surprises and delights with its dual nature. Behind its cheerful and fresh character hides a unique elegance and finesse. It captivates you with its notes of strawberry and flowers, and then traps you with notes of earth, graphite and spices. It has aromas of rose petals and watermelon, with hints of rhubarb, wild strawberry, cardamom and white pepper on the finish. It is an ideal wine for spring and summer, perfect with grilled meats.
