Description
Tomás Postigo Vinificación Integral is a high quality wine produced by the renowned Tomás Postigo winery, located in Ribera del Duero. This wine is the result of the careful combination of four grape varieties: Tinto Fino (the predominant variety in the area), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec, each contributing specific characteristics that enrich the wine's profile.
The grapes come from selected vineyards located at an altitude between 750 and 1,010 metres above sea level, in privileged areas such as Peñafiel, Pesquera del Duero and Roa. These enclaves are known for their capacity to produce high quality grapes due to their soils and altitudes, which favour a slow and complete ripening of the grapes.
The soils where these varieties are grown are predominantly clayey and calcareous, which gives the wine a robust structure and excellent ageing capacity. The calcareous soils provide acidity and freshness, while the clay soils retain the humidity necessary for the balanced development of the vines in an area with hot summers.
Winemaking
The winemaking process at Tomás Postigo Vinificación Integral is carried out with the utmost care and attention to detail. The grapes arrive at the winery destemmed and whole, being moved exclusively by gravity, avoiding the use of pumps to ensure that the grapes arrive in perfect condition. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation is carried out in French oak barrels, which gives the wine a rich aromatic and elegant character. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. The fining process is carried out with natural egg whites, a traditional method that respects the purity and structure of the wine.
Taste
Tomás Postigo Vinificación Integral has a deep, bright cherry red colour. On the nose, the integration of the varieties stands out, with notes of ripe red fruit such as plums and blueberries, and hints of spices (clove, nutmeg). The palate is long and fleshy, with juicy tannins and excellent acidity. The oak is perfectly integrated, adding complexity without detracting from the fruit, leaving a round, balanced finish.
