The sensation of ripeness in the 2020 Pegaso Granito was a little higher than the Pizarra version, despite having a little less alcohol (14.5%), a fascinating comparison every year. The grapes were fully destemmed (in past years, there was always a percentage of full clusters) and matured in 500- and 600-liter oak barrels for 18 months. The grapes from the granite are always harvested one week later, and still the alcohol is a little lower. It's very tasty and fine-grained. The style of the wine is somewhere between the 2018 and 2019. 4,505 bottles were filled in May 2022.

Description
Pegaso Granito is an exceptional wine produced in the vineyards located in Cebreros, Ávila, specifically in the areas of El Robledillo and El Mojón. This wine is made from 100% Garnacha grapes, cultivated in a traditional and organic way in very old vines and goblet trained. The soils where these vines are grown are granite of magmatic origin, located at an altitude between 800 and 1000 metres, which contributes to the minerality and structure of the wine.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand in small boxes to preserve the integrity of the grapes. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in 4,000-kilogram stainless steel tanks, followed by ageing for 18 to 24 months in 600-litre French oak barrels.
Taste
Pegaso Granito stands out for its fruity and friendly profile, with a silky and delicate structure. On the nose, it presents notes of ripe wild berries, spicy nuances and aromas of aromatic Mediterranean herbs, complemented by hints of autumnal forest. On the palate, the wine shows good balance, with very fine, soft tannins and imperceptible oak, resulting in a savoury, ripe palate. The well-integrated acidity and the freshness of its flavours make this wine an excellent choice to enjoy on its own or to accompany a variety of dishes.
