Description
Marko Loretxoa is an aged white wine made from the different white grape varieties of the Basque Country Hondarribi Zerrati, Hondarribi Zuri and Izkiota Txikia by the Oxer Bastegieta winery within the D.O. Txakoli de Bizkaia.
The grapes used to make this wine come from vineyards located in Kortezubi, a small village in Vizcaya near the coast, famous for its prehistoric caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There, the composition of the soils is of the clay-limestone type.
Elaboration
The grapes are hand-selected from the best and oldest vines on the estate. In the winery, alcoholic fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks.
The subsequent ageing is done with the velo de flor technique for 2 months in old sherry butts, which give the wine an excellent complexity and salinity and other surprising properties to the palate.
Taste
Marko Loretxoa is a white wine with citrus and mineral aromas. In the mouth it is fresh, with a magnificent intensity and a good balance of acidity and salinity, it is also a fantastic wine for ageing!
A deep and mineral wine
Marko Loretxoa is a wine from the Oxer Bastegieta winery made from grapes grown organically, avoiding the use of pesticides and chemicals.
The reason for this is to ensure that the wine is a faithful expression of the characteristics of the terroir from which it originates. In this way, the character of both the variety and the terroir is faithfully expressed.
In the gastronomic field, this wine is especially recommended for romantic dinners and as an accompaniment to Iberian cold meats and blue fish.
