The 2021 Leirana Finca Genoveva shows more development of aromas with notes of hay and straw, hints of cereals, with complexity and elegance, keeping the freshness, moderate alcohol (12.5%) and a sharp, austere, salty and mineral finish. It matured in well-seasoned oak foudres for 12 months. 5,000 bottles were produced. It was bottled in August 2022.

Description
Leirana Finca Genoveva is a 100% Albariño white wine, a grape variety from the Rías Baixas D.O., produced by Bodegas Forjas del Salnés in Pontevedra.
The Albariño grapes come from the Genoveva Estate, with old vines over 150 years old. The estate is located near the sea, planted on a sandy soil with pebbles.
Winemaking
This white wine is made by hand harvesting and selection. It is vinified with minimal intervention, fermenting under the control of wild yeasts, using traditional methods and techniques to maintain all the expression of the vineyard. Once fermented, Leirana Finca Genoveva is aged for 12 months in oak vats with its lees at rest.
Taste
This is a fruity white wine with an intense mineral sensation. It has just the right amount of acidity. In the mouth it is dense without being heavy.
It is one of the jewels of Bodegas Forjas del Salnés.
Leirana Finca Genoveva is a surprisingly young wine that comes from very old vines and like all great wines, it can be enjoyed throughout its life and is quite long-lived.
Given its own merits, Leirana Finca Genoveva has been considered among the best albariños of Galicia. For this reason, great critics such as Robert Parker have rated it above 95 points on several occasions.
In the gastronomic field it is perfect as an accompaniment to meals such as: blue fish, oysters, fish rice dishes, rice dishes and cod, among others.
