Description
If you have ever tasted a wine that makes you stop in your tracks, close your eyes and smile, Goyo García Georgieva Finca Guijarrales Graciano is one of them. Goyo García Viadero has passion for wine in his blood. No wonder: he comes from a family with deep roots in Ribera del Duero. But instead of following the path of the big wineries in the area, he has decided to do things his own way. Together with his wife, Diana, he cultivates old vines with an almost reverential respect for the land. And it shows in every glass.
100% Graciano. 100% authenticity. Goyo García Georgieva Finca Guijarrales Graciano is a rarity in Ribera. The Graciano grape is not common in the region, and it arrived here by chance. In the 1980s, a mix-up in the nursery led to Graciano being planted instead of Tempranillo. And, luckily, instead of pulling it up, they decided to let it grow. Over time, they discovered that Graciano adapted wonderfully to the red sand and alluvial stone soils of Finca Guijarrales, in La Aguilera.
The result is a wine with its own personality, born from a vineyard that is cultivated organically, without haste or unnecessary intervention.
Winemaking
There are no shortcuts in Goyo's winery. Here, the grapes are destemmed by hand and left to macerate with their skins for three months in stainless steel. The wine then rests in 8 to 10-year-old French oak barrels for a year. And the best thing: no sulphites, no filtering, no fining. As it should be. What arrives in the bottle is pure, without any make-up.
Taste
Goyo García Georgieva Finca Guijarrales Graciano is not a wine to drink absent-mindedly. It is one of those that demand attention, that make you want to take a sip, taste again and discover something new each time. On the nose, you feel an explosion of ripe black fruit, with a spicy touch and a balsamic background that reminds you of the earth after the rain.
On the palate, it has that fresh, vibrant acidity that makes you salivate and want more. Smooth tannins, well integrated, but with character. Long, elegant finish with a subtle minerality that leaves you thinking.
