Mora considers the 2021 La Cerqueta his best old Garnacha on slate soils, produced with the grapes from a vineyard that's in conversion to organics at 630 meters in altitude. The whole clusters were foot trodden and fermented with indigenous yeasts with a long cuvaison of 76 days. It has 13.5% alcohol and a low pH of 3.25 coupled with close to six grams of acidity. This is superb. There is cleanliness, precision and symmetry here, and it's floral and perfumed and has tension and citrus freshness. As with many other wines, 2021 has to be the finest vintage for this wine yet. 4,352 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2023.

Description
Frontonio La Cerqueta is a red wine made from traditional goblet-trained Grenache vines, sustainably farmed in the "La Cerqueta" plot. Located at an altitude of 630 metres above sea level on blue and grey slate soils, the vineyards are over 75 years old.
Winemaking
Frontonio La Cerqueta is obtained after a manual harvest in 18 kg boxes and a fermentation in cement vats with autochthonous yeasts for 60 days. Subsequently, it is aged for 12 months in oak vats, which gives it great complexity and balance.
Taste
Frontonio La Cerqueta stands out for its vibrant and energetic character. The nose is dominated by aromas of tart wild strawberries, with notes of thyme and incense. On the palate, it has fresh acidity, firm but silky tannins and a long, flavoursome finish. The ageing in foudres softens the tannins and brings out its mineral character, provided by the slate soils. It is a wine of great freshness and tension, with remarkable aromatic precision and a balance between fruit and mineral notes, making it an ideal choice for lovers of complex, structured wines.
