Description
Château Musar Rosé is a tribute to the rosés of Champagne, a style dear to Serge Hochar's heart. It is not produced every year, as specific grape qualities are required to ensure that the varieties blend elegantly.
Winemaking
The main indigenous varieties are Obaideh and Merwah. The Obaideh vines, planted between 1920 and 1947, are located in the foothills of the Anti-Lebanon Mountains on stony, calcareous soils, while the Merwah vines are on the seaward side of Mount Lebanon on calcareous gravels. Yields are very low: 15 to 25 hl per hectare. About 5% of the red Cinsault grapes are used in the final blend to give a subtle alvino colour.
Winemaking
Alcoholic fermentation and ageing for 6 to 9 months in French oak barrels from the Forest of Nevers. The wines are bottled one year after the harvest and released on the market two years later.
Taste
In its youth, this wine has a salmon pink colour, velvety smooth and velvety texture. On the nose the aromas and flavours of peaches, pears, oranges, grapefruit, almonds, wild herbs and citrus leaves stand out.
