Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2010 Climens is a mercurial wine - Bérénice Lurton commenting that is keeps changing personality in recent months. Here, it has closed in a little, with tightly wound honeyed fruit, fresh pear and a touch of candle wax. The palate is viscous on the entry, extremely well balanced, tensile in the mouth, but you can tell that it is keeping 90% of its secrets to itself. If cuts away swiftly on the finish as if to say; that's your lot. In other words, this represents a long-term Climens that will need considerable cellaring. Tasted April 2016.

Description
Château Climens is a wine with a very marked and captivating personality. Every step in the winemaking process is focused on achieving that unique grace that distinguishes Climens and that has made so many enthusiasts fall in love with it. The philosophy of Château Climens can be described as a true goldsmith's work, always looking for that singular brilliance that only the Climens terroir can offer. This wine, classified as Premier Cru Classé de Sauternes-Barsac in 1855, is 100% Sémillon. The soil of the region is ferruginous clayey sand on a calcareous substratum with astéries. The vines have an average age of 38 years and the vineyard has been farmed biodynamically since 2010, with Biodyvin certification since 2014.
Winemaking
Vinification is carried out in small batches in French oak barrels, renewed between 30 and 40%, and ageing lasts between 20 and 22 months.
Taste
The aromatic profile of Château Climens is surprising and versatile, pairing well with a wide variety of dishes. This wine stands out for its elegance and purity of bouquet, characteristics that make it unique among liqueur wines. On the palate, it combines exceptional fullness with the finesse and balance typical of cru. It is a wine that can be enjoyed in its youth, where its freshness and tension are most evident, but it also has great cellaring potential, maintaining its quality for weeks once opened and properly stored in the refrigerator. Recommended pairings include Asian cuisine, charcuterie, various types of cheeses, seafood, oysters, and even a simple roast chicken.
