The white 2024 Basa from Rueda was produced with 90% Verdejo and 10% Viura in a direct, fresh and expressive style. Coming from a diversity of vineyards, it was cropped from a warmish year with around 500 liters of rain but with a cooler September that allowed for a good end of the season, and the grapes achieved good ripeness and were picked starting September 23. This fermented and matured with the lees in stainless steel and finished with 13.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.35 and 5.96 grams of acidity. It's still very young, only faintly reductive, expressive, varietal and fresh, very tasty, almost salty. This is not a small cuvée—they produced 430,000 bottles, and 80% is exported. It was bottled in February 2025.

Description
Basa is a white wine made by Telmo Rodríguez in the Rueda region. It uses grapes from several estates located mainly in La Seca and Serrada. The composition of the wine includes 90% Verdejo and 10% Viura.
Winemaking
Basa is produced following traditional viticulture methods, with both manual and machine harvesting. The winemaking and ageing is carried out in stainless steel tanks for several months, allowing the wine to develop its distinctive character.
Taste
Basa is characterised by its pale yellow colour with greenish reflections, presenting a clean and bright appearance. On the nose, notes of white fruit are perceived, accompanied by a very marked floral profile, together with subtle mineral and herbaceous touches. On tasting, the wine shows a dry and fresh flavour, with good body and an unctuous texture. Medium length on the palate and a slightly bitter finish help to set its flavour in the mouth, offering a balanced and satisfying experience.
