Description
Viña Pomal Crianza is one of the most representative wines of Rioja Alta, produced by Bodegas Bilbaínas, a historic winery founded in 1901 in Haro. This wine is mainly made from Tempranillo grapes, which gives structure and smoothness to the blend. The vineyard is located less than 2 km from the winery, in a privileged enclave next to the Ebro River, where the soils combine different types of textures, which favours the production of high quality grapes.
Winemaking
The winemaking process follows a traditional vinification process. After destemming and crushing, the grapes are macerated for two weeks, which allows the wine to obtain a great fruity intensity. Subsequently, the wine is aged for 12 months in American oak barrels, with 15% of new barrels, adding complexity and maturity to the final result.
Taste
Viña Pomal Crianza stands out for its cherry red colour with purplish glints. On the nose, it offers a high aromatic intensity, with notes of violets, black fruits and hints of liquorice, complemented by nuances of vanilla and roasted coffee. On the palate, the wine is smooth, enveloping and fresh, with well-integrated tannins that give it a pleasant structure. The taste experience is balanced and persistent, making this wine an excellent choice to accompany mild dishes such as rice, cheese, stews and fish.
