Description
Terra Vermella de Nin is a white wine made from Parellada grapes by the Bodega Familia Nin-Ortiz in Pla de Manlleu, in the region of Catalonia.
The Nin Ortiz family is located in Porrera, in the heart of the Priorat region, where they started winemaking in an old vineyard owned by the Ester Nin family in the Pla de Manlleu.
The grapes come from a soil where there is a mixture of red clay and stones, which gives it a very peculiar colour, hence the name of the wine "Terra Vermella" which means red earth in Catalan.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand. Only natural yeasts are used for fermentation. In the winery, the grapes are gently pressed and the must obtained is fermented with its own yeasts in used 225-litre barrels. It remains there for 8 months with its fine lees . The pumping-over is carried out manually to avoid the use of mechanical pumps.
Taste
Terra Vermella de Nin has delicate, fruity and floral aromas with mineral notes on the nose. It is a wine balanced by a bright acidity that offers a quite fresh aftertaste, which makes it very pleasant at the moment of tasting. It is a very elegant white wine!
A creamy and structured white wine.
Terra Vermella de Nin comes from grapes planted in biodynamic agriculture production vineyards. This type of agriculture is practiced with infusions made from plant extracts and mineral sulphur, taking into account the lunar phases in each process by the Bodega Familia Nin-Ortiz.
In the gastronomic field, it is the ideal accompaniment for dinners with friends and meals such as cod, blue fish, fish rice, salmon, spicy fish stew and seafood stew.
