Description
Occhipinti SP68 Bianco, a journey in a bottle, this wine bears the name of a road and evokes the journey of farmers who, three thousand years ago, set out from the countryside with amphorae and barrels, carrying within them the fruit of their labour, the fatigue, the joy and even the aroma of the earth. Today, this journey continues with farmers heading to their vineyards, sharing meetings and work under the clear Iblei sky.
SP68 Bianco is composed of 60% Muscat of Alexandria and 40% Albanello. These grapes grow at an altitude of 280 metres above sea level on medium density soils, composed of red sands and chalk from sub-apennine limestone rocks. Farming is organic, without chemical intervention, and the vines have an average age of 15 years with a density of 6,000 plants per hectare.
Elaboration
The SP68 Bianco is harvested in the last week of September. Fermentation is carried out exclusively with indigenous yeasts and 15 days of maceration on the skins. Subsequently, the wine is aged for 6 months in concrete tanks and an additional month in the bottle unfiltered.
Taste
Occhipiniti SP68 Bianco is an intriguing, complex and delicious wine. Its golden colour and bright rim make it visually appealing. On the nose, complex notes of ripe stone fruit, tropical fruits, pineapple peel, fermentation aromas and flowers. The palate is fresh and voluminous, with good weight and persistence. Fruit flavours, oxidative touches and a mineral aftertaste emerge, making it easy to drink, but with a depth that invites you to discover more with each sip.
