Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The varietal white 2018 Ignios Orígenes Marmajuelo was produced with grapes from the same vineyard as previous years, a plot planted in 1997 at 390 meters in altitude where the grapes are more aromatic than Listán Blanco. It fermented in used 500-liter oak barrels with indigenous yeasts and matured in those same barrels for one year. It has a deep golden color and also notes reminiscent of a mini-orange wine, yellow plums, quince paste and pollen with the pungent spiciness. But this was not fermented with the skins; the variety needs lots of water, and the grapes get darker when dry. It's textured and serious, with some fine tannins and volume. It improves in the glass, turning more elegant and developing more complexity. 1,300 bottles were filled in February 2020.
