The serious white 2023 Montes Obarenes was produced with a blend of 60% Viura, 25% Tempranillo Blanco and 5% each Calagraño, Garnacha Blanca and Malvasía Riojana fermented separately with selected yeasts in barrel, where it matured for one year. It has a pale color and a balanced and shy nose, with flowers and herbs, not much fruit. It has contained ripeness and lower alcohol than in 2022, 13.5% this time (versus 14% last year), and kept a pH of 3.44, coming through as fresh and balanced, long, clean and focused. 5,895 bottles and 249 magnums produced. It was bottled in September 2024.
