Description
Eduardo Torres Arenaria is a red wine made from grapes coming from recovered vines that are more than 70 years old and are located 700 metres above sea level. These are mixed vineyards, and different local varieties are grown organically and by hand.
The vines have been planted in sandstone soils, rich in minerals with marl, clay and quartz. All the work is committed to the environment, with minimum intervention in the vineyard and in the cellars.
Winemaking
Eduardo Torres Arenaria is a wine that is harvested by hand. A percentage of the bunches are destemmed and a small percentage are left whole. The grapes are macerated for 20 days. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and without temperature control in concrete tanks.
Finally, the wine is aged for 11 months in 500 and 600 litre barrels. This is an organic red wine in wood made from a variety of native red grapes such as Norello Mascalese.
Taste
This is a smooth red wine with aromas of red fruits, floral notes and mineral hints, which in the mouth can be perceived as a complex and generous flavour. It is a wine with avant-garde acidity, refreshing and with marked tannins.
A wine with local character
Despite Eduardo's outsider status, the winemaker has managed to completely master the terroir. A great example is the Eduardo Torres Arenaria, which is a wine of limited production due to its authentic and complicated elaboration, characterised by being generous and full of life.
In the gastronomic field, it is a wine that goes perfectly with semi-cured cheeses and red meats in different occasions with friends or business lunches.
