Description
From the hills overlooking the Atlantic in the Loire Valley comes Domaine de l'Ecu Marguerite, a cuvée deeply rooted in the philosophy of absolute respect for the land. The Bossard family, a pioneer in biodynamic viticulture since the end of the 20th century, opted for chemical-free agriculture, guided by natural rhythms and constant observation of the vineyard, when almost no one else was doing so. That decision, considered risky at the time, defines today the authentic and radical character of this wine.
The wine comes from Folle Blanche vines grown on gneiss and siliceous clay soils, in an environment with a strong Atlantic influence. This Loire terroir brings natural freshness, marked minerality and an unmistakable saline identity. Here, the oceanic wind and the poor soils force the vines to go deep, giving rise to a mineral, tense and energetic white wine.
Winemaking
Domaine de L'Ecu Marguerite is harvested by hand, selecting each bunch at its optimum ripeness. After gentle pressing, fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, without any corrections or unnecessary interventions. The wine rests for 12 months on its lees in underground cement tanks, refining texture and depth without the influence of wood.
No aggressive fining or filtration is carried out to alter the wine's essence. The result is a natural Loire wine that accurately expresses its origin and maintains a vibrant purity true to the character of Domaine de l'Ecú Marguerite.
Taste
On the nose, Domaine de L'Ecu Marguerite reveals wet stone, sea breeze, lime zest and fresh green apple. It is not an exuberant or aromatically expansive white; it is restrained, serious and deeply mineral.
In the mouth it shows a fresh, vertical acidity that runs through the palate like an electric current. The ageing on the lees adds a slight volume that balances the tension, while the salinity -almost iodine- dominates the long, precise finish. Citrus nuances and a subtle herbaceous echo appear, always under the prominence of the rock and the sea.
Domaine de L'Ecu Marguerite is ideal for those looking for straight, saline and authentic profiles. A dry, Atlantic and vibrant white wine that leaves its mark with its purity and non-negotiable character.
